I have been in this business for over 50 years. I am proud to say that I have never charged a customer for a service call. Why don’t I charge?
For example, we once installed siding and a roof for a customer. After we completed the job, he got rid of his cable and went to satellite, so he ended up having a hole in his siding. We replaced the siding at no charge. Two years later, this same customer got rid of his dish and had holes in his roof from where it was attached. We came out and repaired his roof – again, at no charge.
Look, I can’t promise I won’t charge SOMETHING if you, say, take a sledgehammer to your windows. But if an accidental problem occurs at any time – 5, 15, or 50 years from now – I will NOT charge you for a service call. Service after the sale is something I insist on. It’s helped me build long-lasting relationships with many of my customers and gives them a peace of mind knowing that if anything goes wrong with their project, they are protected.
